Check out Julia's brand new blog at: http://juliafeildenracing.blogspot.com/

31st July

*Chadwell Spring - Lingfield

*Sancho Panza - Lingfield

*Emma's Gift - Newmarket

29th July

*Night Orbit - Musselburgh

*Ocean Rosie - Musselburgh

26th July

*Bonniebridge - Yarmouth

24th July

*King Columbo - Salisbury

Finished mid-division

Once again, the ground went against him as did the race in which they went a steady gallop.

*Marafong - Salisbury

Finished 4th

He's starting to find some consistency now and is well handicapped, so he could be one to look out for.

19th July

*Exopuntia - Yarmouth

Finished 5th

A disappointing run but it could just be that this big filly needs soft ground to be seen at her best.

16th July

*Emma's Gift - Newbury

Finished mid-division

A below par run but this was the first time she had raced on soft ground and she obviously did not perform on it.

*King Columbo - Newmarket

Finished mid-division

In with a shout as he has been all season but needs soft ground to get his head in front.

14th July

*Little Meadow - Lingfield

Finished 4th

Hit the front a furlong from home but her stamina just ran out. Will be dropped in distance next time.

10th July

*Marafong - Nottingham

Finished 3rd

Finally showing some of the ability he exhibited last year, he ran on well at the finish and will benefit next time with the fitting of a pair of cheekpieces.

*Bavarica - Nottingham

Finished 2nd

With only four runners, it was always going to be a tactical affair and it went against her.

9th July

*Spirit of Sharjah - Newmarket, Bunbury Cup

Finished mid-division

Was denied a clear run a furlong out and lost valuable momentum as a result. Ran better than the bare result and a big handicap looks in his grasp before the season is out.

7th July

*Little Meadow - Lingfield

Unseated

Saddle slipped soon after start. Jockey suffered two broken ribs.

6th July

*Bonniebridge - Wolverhampton

Finished 6th

The surface at Wolverhampton is currently riding quite slow because of the warm weather and this seemed to go against her.

4th July

*Ocean Countess - Brighton

Finished 3rd

Once again, she found the 7f too sharp. She will run over a mile next time.

3rd July

*Rathbawn Girl - Leicester

Finished 4th

In the money as always, she is just a bit high in the handicap at the moment.

*Chadwell Spring - Leicester

Finished mid-division

Was travelling well but when push came to shove she didn't let herself down on the firm ground.

2nd July

*Sand Repeal - Warwick

Finished mid-division

Ran a very lifeless race and it may have come too soon from his race in Scotland at the beginning of the week.

28th June

*Sand Repeal - Musselburgh

Finished 5th

Everything looked set for a big run but then the heavens opened shortly before racing and the ground went too soft for him.

25th June

*Marafong - Newmarket

Finished mid-division

Desperately needs soft ground

*King Columbo - Newmarket

Finished 3rd

In the frame once again, he will be getting his head in front once we get some rain.

23rd June

*Night Orbit - Kempton

Finished mid-division

Never ridden very handily, he lost interest from an early stage.

*Rathbawn Girl - Salisbury

Finished 5th

Is in good form at present but found the 6f just a bit too far.

22nd June

*Ocean Countess - Brighton

Finished third

Another solid run but just finds 7f on firm ground too short for her.

*Miss Jabba - Brighton

Finished mid-division

Ran better over a longer trip but needs soft ground to perform at her best.

21st June

*Ocean Rosie - Windsor

Finished mid-division

Was just having her third run and now qualifies for handicap races.

20th June

*Exopuntia - Pontefract

Finished towards the rear

Looks better suited to a flat track and didn't handle the bends too well.

19th June

*Bonniebridge - Lingfield

Finished 5th

An encouraging debut, she ran green towards the rear early on but eventually found her stride and ran on well towards the finish.

18th June

*Emma's Gift - Albany Stakes, Royal Ascot

Finished 5th out of 23

An excellent performance, she was first of her group on the far side and we can only imagine what she might have done if she was drawn lower.

*Spirit of Sharjah - Buckingham Palace Stakes, Royal Ascot

Finished 11th out of 27

A solid run on the world's biggest stage, he raced on the stands side but is high enough in the handicap.

*King Columbo - Newmarket

Finished 3rd

Another good run but probably hit the front a shade too soon.

17th June

*Baggsy - Leicester

Finished 5th

Made the running and was just caught in the final furlong. The distance was probably a bit too far and she will try one mile next time.

14th June

*Sand Repeal - Warwick

Finished 2nd

He is back to form now and ran a cracking race but was unlucky to bump into a well handicapped rival.

13th June

*Marafong - Doncaster

Finished last

A real disappointment and it was clear that the experiment in stepping him up in trip did not work. He will drop back to 6/7f next time.

10th June

*Bavarica - Newbury

Finished 1st

The remarkable mare recorded her third win of the season and the ninth of her career. Never far off the pace, she was produced late to score by a head under Ross Birkett.

You can see a replay of the race at this address: http://horses.sportinglife.com/Video/Racing/0,27770,376460_3,00.html

*Sancho Panza - Yarmouth

Finished towards the rear

It looked like he did not stay the 1m4f.

9th June

*Always De One - Yarmouth

Finished 5th

Looked the winner two furlongs from home but her attitude was not the most willing and she will go hurdling next.

*Exopuntia - Yarmouth

Finished 4th

Ran a really good race on her seasonal debut. Running green early on, the penny dropped towards the finish and she ran on well.

6th June

*Ocean Countess - Brighton

Finished 3rd

Her four-race winning run at Brighton came to an end but she ran admirably in defeat.

*Rathbawn Girl - Brighton

Finished 1st

Outpaced early on, she squeezed through the tiniest gap up the rail to get home by a short head.

4th June

*Chadwell Spring - Goodwood

Finished towards the rear

Going well but found little off the bridle.

*King Columbo - Goodwood

Finished 3rd

Came back to form and he should be winning soon but he received a nasty cut to his hind leg during the race.

*Baggsy - Wolverhampton

(see Baggsy page)

28th May

*Bavarica - Newmarket

Finished 4th

In the money as always but the high weight she carried just bogged her down.

27th May

*Sand Repeal - Brighton

Finished 4th

A pleasing reappearance after more than 200 days off the track.

*Rathbawn Girl - Brighton

Finished 3rd

Ran well but the feeling is that 6f is her best trip.

24th May

*Emmeline Pankhurst - Leicester

Finished mid-division

A slightly disappointing debut considering the ability she had shown at home but it later transpired that she was in season.

22nd May

*Bavarica - York

Finished 5th

Consistent as ever, she just finds it hard to win in this class.

*Always de One - Lingfield

Finished 5th

A solid enough run, she was just run out of it towards the finish.

*Baggsy - Lingfield

Finished mid-division

(See Baggsy page)

*Sancho Panza - Lingfield

Finished mid-division

Having his first run of the year and he showed some promise. Needs further than today's trip.

*Little Meadow - Lingfield

Finished 3rd

Ran a blinder and looked to stay all of the trip so she may be stepped up in distance next time.

17th May

*Rathbawn Girl - Wolverhampton

Finished towards the rear

After a slow start she could never get back on terms.

14th May

*Bavarica - Newbury

Finished 3rd

Ran a fine race after a short break and will strip fitter for next time.

13th May

*Spirit of Sharjah - York

Finished towards the rear

Never really got a clear run and in these top-class races you need everything to drop right to win.

12th May

*Emma's Gift - Bath

Finished 1st

Our first 2 year-old winner of the season, she was always travelling well and quickened impressively to win the race and a £10,000 yearling bonus courtesy of the Racing Post.

Rob, Adam, Ross and Shelley were among the 231 runners who took part in the 6km Newmarket Heath Run on a hilly Bury Hill circuit. They finished third in the stable staff challenge with Ross placing highest in 5th, Adam 31st, Rob 62nd and Shelley 121st.

11th May

*King Columbo - Yarmouth

Finished mid-division

The ground was too firm for him but he needs to drop in the handicap anyway.

10th May

*Miss Jabba - Brighton

Finished towards the rear

Always struggling, she needs really soft ground to be seen at her best.

*Always de One - Wolverhampton

Finished 5th

Missed the break and she had to use up a lot of energy to get in front.

*Ocean Countess - Brighton NON RUNNER

7th May

*Ocean Rosie - Lingfield

Finished 2nd

After not showing much at home, we were expecting a poor run but the racecourse woke her up and she ran a blinder, only beaten by the Godolphin favourite.

*Chadwell Spring - Lingfield

Finished mid-division

Slightly disappointing but she takes a while to come to herself and will eventually find her form.

*Marafong - Nottingham

Finished mid-division

Found the 6f too sharp and will appreciate a step up in trip.

*State General - Lingfield

Finished mid-division

Again ran with little enthusiasm and he now heads to the sales.

4th May

*Persian Tomcat - Fakenham

Fell

Had been schooling well at home so it was a surprise to see him jump so poorly and fall three out.

29th April

*Ocean Countess - Brighton

Finished 1st

Her amazing run at Brighton continues - 4 wins and a second from 5 runs at the seaside track. Struggling early on, she rallied up the hill to win comfortably.

*State General - Brighton

Finished mid-division

Ran another better race but the feeling is that he didn't particularly handle the track.

27th April

*Emma's Gift - Yarmouth

Finished 3rd

We thought she would be good enough to win this but it may just turn out to be quite a decent little race.

*Rathbawn Girl - Yarmouth

Finished 5th

Ran well but looks in the handicapper's grip at the moment.

24th April

*Spirit of Sharjah - Leicester

Finished 1st

He goes from strength to strength this season and made it 2 wins from 2 runs since his reappearance. Always travelling strongly, he just idled a bit when he hit the front under Frankie Dettori.

*Spruce - Ripon

Finished 4th

Ran an ok race but the jockey reported that he didn't like the fast going.

22nd April

*Marafong - Southwell

Finished mid-division

A below par run and it might have been that he just didn't act at Southwell.

20th April

*Miss Jabba - Brighton

Finished towards the rear

A disappointing display and she didn't seem to try very hard. Blinkers may be applied next time.

*Persian Tomcat - Brighton

Finished 4th

A good run considering how poorly he was in at the weights.

*Chadwell Spring - Brighton

Finished mid-division

After 2 wins last year, she is still too high in the handicap and didn't stay the 1m2f.

*State General - Brighton

Finished mid-division

A massive improvement on his recent efforts and the step down in trip appeared to be just what was needed for him to show his form again.

*Always De One - Wolverhampton

Finished 5th

Ran another solid race and she just needed the run after a few setbacks.

17th April

*Bavarica - Doncaster

Finished towards the rear

She has won a lot of races over the winter and as a result is too high in the handicap thus finding this race too competitive.

15th April

*Rathbawn Girl - Kempton

Finished 3rd

Seemed to handle the step down to 5f well and will be winning any time soon.

12th April

*Marafong - Folkestone

Finished 4th

Outpaced early on, he stayed on towards the finish and will do better over 7f.

10th April

*Spirit of Sharjah - Lingfield

Finished 1st

His first run of the season, he showed some of his old ability to win comfortably.

7th April

*Little Meadow - Kempton

Finished mid-division

From a wide draw she could never land a blow.

*Bavarica - Kempton

Finished mid-division

Remarkably, all the horses in the race were covered by only two lengths so she wasn't beaten far.

5th April

*King Columbo - Yarmouth

Finished mid-division

His first run of the year and he got tired towards the end.

4th April

*Connemara Shore - Towcester

Finished mid-division

Raced a bit keenly but showed enough on his hurdles debut to suggest that he can win a race.

28th March

*State General - Doncaster

Finished last

Another baffling run, the blinkers had little effect and we will have to go back to the drawing board with him.

*Spruce - Doncaster

Finished 2nd

A blinder of a run, he was beaten only a neck and it looks like this season will be an exciting one for him.

*Chadwell Spring - Doncaster

Finished mid-division

Not a bad run, she just found the going a bit slow and will be better on a faster surface.

26th March

*Rathbawn Girl - Wolverhampton

Finished 2nd

Back to form, she just bumped into a very progressive winner.

17th March

*Spruce - Kempton

Finished 5th

Taking a step up to listed class, he ran extremely well and could just pick up a similar race.

*Bavarica - Kempton

Finished last

Running in a listed race to try and get some black type, she was simply outclassed.

*Always De One - Kempton

Finished 4th

Consistent again but needs riding more handily than she was.

*Bushy Dell - Southwell

Finished last

Ran another disappointing race and she hasn't really convinced us yet that she handles the surface at Southwell.

12th March

*Bavarica - Wolverhampton

Finished 1st

Racing off a career high mark, she stormed up the straight to land a 20-1 shock by the shortest of margins. This was also our apprentice, Adam Beschizza's, first winner.

7th March

*Connemara Shore - Huntingdon

Finished mid-division

Ridden handily, he just does not have the extra gear needed to win a bumper and kept plodding on. He will now go over hurdles.

5th March

*Rathbawn Girl - Lingfield

Finished mid-division

A good enough run, she just met a little trouble in running.

4th March

*Spruce - Southwell

Finished 1st

Made it four wins on the bounce with an emphatic, front-running display.

*Bushy Dell - Southwell

Finished last

Slightly disappointing, she seemed to struggle to go the pace.

2nd/3rd March

*Always De One - Lingfield

Finished 4th

Another solid run, she probably wasn't suited by the tight track as she is a big, galloping individual.

1st March

*Bavarica - Wolverhampton

Finished 4th

After going up 7lbs for her last win, she will find it hard until the handicapper drops her in the weights a bit.

28th February

*State General - Kempton

Finished towards the rear

Another disappointing display from the General. The jockey said he may need a pair of blinkers.

27th February

*Spruce - Lingfield

Finished 1st

Continued his winning streak by trouncing his rivals. Is in again at Southwell next week.

25th February

*Night Orbit - Huntingdon

Finished last

Ran very flat and will now have a break after a busy season.

20th February

*Spruce - Lingfield

Finished 1st

Made it two in a row by grinding down the long time leader from Mark Johnston's yard. Lingfield doesn't really suit him and he's in again at Southwell later in the week.

18th February

*Crazy Gracie - Southwell

Finished mid-division

Confirmed our thoughts that she holds little ability.

17th February

*Baggsy - Lingfield

Finished last

A below par performance which we are sure she can better.

15th February

*Always De One - Wolverhampton

Finished 3rd

A case of 'what could have been' as she was staying on really well entering the straight but was unfortunately carried wide by the eventual winner (later disqualified). She galloped on relentless but this upset her rythmn.

13th February

*Night Orbit - Newbury

Unseated rider

Going well until making a mistake at about halfway.

*Persian Tomcat - Wolverhampton

Finished mid-division

Ran pleasing enough, the 1 mile trip is a bit sharp for him and he'll be upped in distance next time.

10th February

*Rathbawn Girl - Lingfield

Finished mid-division

Probably needs some leniancy from the handicapper.

*Connemara Shore - Southwell

Finished mid-division

His debut race, he just lacked the speed needed in bumpers an will go hurdling now.

*Crazy Gracie - Southwell

Finished mid-division

9th February

*State General - Market Rasen

Pulled up

Jockey ignored his orders and held the horse up so he dropped himself out and ran no sort of race.

*Little Meadow - Southwell

Finished mid-division

Given a little too much to do by her jockey, she plugged on towards the line.

*Spruce - Southwell

Finished 1st

We won't have an easier winner than this in 2010. A two horse race, he started at odds of 2/13 and won by almost a furlong.

5th February

*Bavarica - Lingfield

Finished 1st

As reliable as ever, she surprised many by holding out to win over 1m4f and getting us our first winner of the new year.. This now gives her a lot more opportunities.

3rd February

*Spruce - Lingfield

Finished 2nd

We expected a big run from him and he was unlucky to be beaten a head. Hopefully he can make amends for this defeat when he runs again on Tuesday.

1st February

*Bushy Dell - Wolverhampton

Finished 3rd

Consistent as usual but still needs to fall in the handicap slightly.

29th January

*Lady Champagne - Lingfield

Finished last

Really didn't like Lingfield, she will be returned to Southwell where she has run best.

26th January

*Little Meadow - Southwell

Finished 4th

Ran well enough and will be winning soon

25th January

*Night Orbit - Fontwell

Finished fourth

Ridden by AP McCoy, he jumped superbly but jus lacked speed. AP said the further he goes, the better.

24th January

*Bavarica - Kempton

Finished fourth

Ran her usual race but just needs things to drop right for her to win.

20th January

*Obvious - Kempton

Finished mid-division

Ran her best race in a long while. She showed a lot of speed and looked like the winner a furlong from home. We will step her down to 7f next time.

19th January

*Bushy Dell - Wolverhampton

Finished towards the rear

Got hampered just as she was staying on over a furlong from home and couldn't quicken thereafter.

16th January

*Baggsy - Lingfield

Finished 4th

(See Baggsy page on left)

*Bavarica - Lingfield

Finished mid-division

Held up in behind, she never really got into the race and flew home at the finish. She will drop in the ratings for this run which will help her next time.

     ***JULIA'S NEW YEAR MESSAGE***

At the start of 2009 it had been suggested that 20 winners for the year would be a really good target, an idea that I thought would be unachievable. However, it is all credit to my owners, staff and horses that we came so close to achieving the mark. I am slightly gutted to close the season one short of that with 19 wins but this number has easily beaten our best tally of 15.

My early season pessimsim proved unfounded as a number of horses surprised us by racking up a number of wins; Ocean Countess scored four times and Bavarica raked in a trio. I also landed my first double with Night Orbit and State General at Lingfield, followed by another a few months later when half-brothers King Columbo and Sand Repeal won on the same day. It always gives me a great thrill to win with any horse but I felt proudest when Spirit of Sharjah got his head in front at Epsom during the summer. His fluctuating career has been well documented and it took us an age to get his head right but he finally came good.

Spirit of Sharjah winning at Epsom.

As for 2010, I hope to crack the 20 winner mark as I feel we have a strong team of well handicapped horses and it would not surprise me if we landed some prestigious handicaps in the forthcoming season. We have made some room for new recruits and I am happy to report that we have more horses than boxes, so the team will always be at full strength. I cannot thank the owners enough for all their support and I hope we can all have a successful and exciting year ahead.

13th January

*Miss Jabba - Kempton

Finished last

A puzzling run, she does not seem to be trying too hard at the moment.

*Rathbawn Girl - Kempton

Finished 3rd

Was short of room turning into the straight and she stayed onstoutly. Will appreciated a furlong further.

1st January

*Lady Champagne - Southwell

Finished 4th

Like Little Meadow the previous week, she was a different horse on her first encounter of the surface and showed enough promise to suggest she will be winning very soon.

**2009 winners: 19 (from 12 different horses)**
