Ixi Schaefer                     Ixi joined us in early 2008. She has two children and two dogs. She comes from Germany and is a very good rider. She looks after Night Orbit, Spirit of Sharjah, State General and Miss Jabba.

Adam Beschizza - our talented apprentice who is quickly rising through the jockey's ranks and will no doubt make it one day as a fully-fledged professional.

Ross Birkett                                                                                         Ross is Julia's son. He rides as an amateur and has had 8 winners. He goes to Brighton University, studying sports journalism, and rides out for Gary Moore. He has come second in the Amateur Bollinger Series for two years running.

John Birkett       John is husband to Julia. He worked for Ginger McCain before moving to Newmarket where he joined Dave Thom. Then he decided to get out of racing and work for Royal Mail, for whom he worked for 25 long and loyal years only to return to the yard and work with the horses again. His duties are also yard man, feedman and he runs the Hoofbeats Tours. He is pictured with Bonnie (left) and Clyde (right) who are companions for the race horses when they go racing.

Shelley Birkett                                     Shelley is Julia's daughter. She enjoys pony racing and next year will be old enough to get her amateur licence out. She also does a lot of secretarial work for Julia. She has a jack- russell dog called Jemma.

Amie Karlson - Amie is originally from Sweden and joined us after completing a placement at the National Stud. She is also studying part-time at university.

Jo - works in the yard but also has her own racehorse which she rides out with the string most mornings.

Poppy - Julia's sister and she works in the yard for a couple of hours in the morning, before working at the National Stud.

Richard Perham - rode 200 winners as a jockey and rides out before working as Jockey Coach at the British Racing School.

Laura - Richard's partner and rides out everyday. She also works at the British Racing School.

Alison - holds an amateur licence and has ridden a handful of winners.
