Happy New Year to you all and I hope 2023 has started the right way for you. January 1st usually means a trip to Southwell for us but we don't have any runners there on this occasion so we can have a quiet one...after all the yard work has been done! Our annual Christmas newsletter sums up this year very well and if you missed it you can read it here: https://mailchi.mp/034cfa49c261/review-of-2022 2022 was a good year for us with plenty of winners although the 26 second places were a bit frustrating! The good news is that I think we can build on last year's success with a big team of three-year olds who will all improve with a winter to strengthen up as well as all the reliable old faces. Things are never easy and the rising costs of everything will make life tough but we have a great band of owners as well as a content and hard-working team of staff who help make things run very smoothly. We had a winner on New Year's Day last year so hopefully we can start this year with a bang as our first runners come with three entries at Chelmsford on Thursday. Zany Idea will be having her second career run and, after showing good early speed last time, I've dropped her in trip to six furlongs so hopefully she can be a bit more competitive. It's still early days for her though and she will learn some more after this race. This might be Heer's Sadie's final start before retirement as she is not showing much enthusiasm for the game. She always runs ok without looking like winning but she should be winning judged on her work at home and her past form. Horses always surprise you though so I hope she can this time. Arpina will be rounding off the evening and she certainly deserves to win a race after numerous placings in 2022. She always tries her best and one day things will go her way. Comments are closed.
