Our arrival back to the UK after a holiday in Dubai for a week was a shock to the system with a cold front hitting the country as we swapped the sun for snow! Hopefully it's the last of winter and we can finally look forward to warmer weather. All the trees are starting to blossom so hopefully spring is just around the corner. The horses don't know what to do with their winter coats after they started to lose hair when it was warm last week and now they are desperate to keep it a bit longer! We've got them well rugged up so they should be nice and warm for the time being.

The new season gets under way for us this week as we have our first runners on the turf in 2022 with a trip to Nottingham on Wednesday.
Oud Metha Bridge has been running over the winter and won at Southwell on New Year's Day so he is fit and well. He hasn't had the races run to suit him recently so he looks a bit out of form but he seems in good order at home. He'll need some luck in running but maybe the switch to grass can bring him back to form.
Mrs Meader is entered in the same race but it should divide so they won't be against each other. She has had a winter break and is the first to come to hand so she's ready to run again. As always, the holiday horses will improve for their first run and we're starting her back over one mile here as she'll probably be a bit fresh and keen. She was unlucky not to win last year and I think she will get her head in front this season.

We'll be back on the all weather on Thursday as Engrave goes back to her favourite track Chelmsford which is up and running again after repairing their storm damage. She has found life a bit tough since winning twice over the winter but this looks an ideal race for her to go close in and hopefully she can find her form again.
