This week's Tattersalls February Sale was the first that has ever been held exclusively online by the company and it seemed to work pretty well. Every horse going under the hammer had videos and photos on its lot page and anyone was welcome to go and see the horse at its yard. Obviously horses with recent form were the most popular as you at least know they are fit and sound whilst the well-bred mares sold well too as seeing them in person before buying isn't too important. We managed to sell Productive for a very respectable price and he is now down in the West Country with trainer Stuart Kittow. We had only bought Productive last summer but it quickly became clear that he didn't try too hard in his races despite all our best efforts so, rather than waste the owners' time and money any longer, we decided to cut our losses. It's always disappointing when a horse can't pay its way and give the owners some fun but not everything is a success story. I know he's gone to a friendly yard though and maybe the change of scenery will perk him up. We did have Alibaba go through the ring but the plan was always to buy him back and we just needed to get a value price on him as he is going through a change of ownership. The good news is that there is now the chance to join his syndicate of owners with 20% available to buy at £950 per 10% share plus £200 per month all-inclusive training fees. Many of you will know him well already and he looked very impressive when winning twice last summer at Yarmouth and Windsor. He is a good, fun horse to be involved with who will give you plenty of enjoyment and days out in the sun. Please CONTACT US or email [email protected] for more details. We only have a small all-weather team but plenty of them will be running over the next couple of weeks including two this week. Engrave has two wins on her CV at Chelmsford and she goes back there on Friday after two tries at Southwell. She ran ok there but probably wasn't at her best so the return to her favourite track is certainly a positive. As ever, a low draw on the all-weather is essential so if she can get that then she should have a chance. Smokey Malone does seem at his best at Southwell and ran a blinder there last time to finish a close second. The blinkers seem to have really focussed his mind and he has a good chance of breaking his maiden tag if things go right for him. Comments are closed.
