This week sees the inaugural National Racehorse Week as racing opens up to the public to give everyone a behind the scenes look at how well racehorses are treated both at home and at the races.
There were loads of yard open days up north this weekend and next weekend sees the Newmarket Open Day take place with tonnes of stuff for people to do.
In the morning, yards across town will be open for visitors whilst the afternoon sees plenty of activities including a racing-themed showjumping competition and a commentary challenge at the races.
We used to open for this weekend but haven't done for the past couple of years as we felt that our location outside of town meant not many visitors came and anyone that did is welcome to come any Saturday of the year, such is our open door policy so really it is open weekend here every weekend!
It's the big three-day festival at Yarmouth this week and we will be there but just with one runner on Wednesday.
Cabrini has been very consistent all season and deserves to get her first win on the board when finding the ideal opportunity. She showed plenty of speed last time so the drop back to six furlongs is worth a try but this is a hot looking race so the change will need to bring about a few pounds improvement.
The only other runner for the week comes at Chelmsford on Thursday. Raha desperately needs soft turf to be seen at her best but the Indian summer we've had means that everywhere on the grass is too firm for her so we are giving her a go on the all-weather. She has run well at Kempton in the past so hopefully she can act at this track and she is handicapped to win now.
