Our trip up to Newcastle on Friday proved to be less fruitful than we had hoped as both Mrs Meader and Alibaba didn't trouble the judge as well as the horse box breaking down on the way! Luckily it happened not far from Newcastle so we could crawl the rest of the way there. A very knowledgable recovery driver came and diagnosed a blown turbo but he tinkered enough with it to reckon we could get home. Thankfully we did but I was expecting it to go at any minute. It's in the garage on Monday so should be sorted then.
Everything is put into perspective though as that same night jockey Graham Lee had a very innocuous looking fall when his horse stumbled coming out of the stalls. It has turned out to be a lot more serious than it looked though with Graham landing awkwardly and now in intensive care. Everyone's thoughts are with him and we hope he can make a full recovery.
We did have a good result earlier in the week with Notre Dame showing her first bit of form at Chelmsford on Thursday. She has taken a while to figure out but we knew she had the ability to win a race so hopefully she can build on this third place over the winter.
Most of the team have started their winter holidays now but we will have about ten to run through the winter. One of those is Stintino Sunset and she is in at Wolverhampton on Tuesday evening. She has been running well at the back end of the turf season so hopefully she can carry that form onto the all-weather. She has run well at Lingfield so fingers crossed she can do the same here.
