Our N.E.T. Racing Club has had plenty of success down the years but this one has been a bit quiet with Engrave losing her form in the summer and Zany Idea needing more time to develop than we thought. That will all change soon however, as I am delighted to report that both horses are nearing a racecourse return next month and should give everyone a fun winter.
Engrave is always best on the all-weather but even her recent runs on that surface lacked some spark so we have given her a short break and she seems a lot brighter since coming back into work. There's a race for her at her favourite Chelmsford in early December and she is handicapped now to win a few races this winter.
Zany Idea is only small but has done plenty of strengthening up over the summer and she is starting to take shape with the hope of running her on a track next month. She will likely need time to find her feet in maiden races but hopefully handicaps down the line will see her in a better light.
We are still trying to source a third horse for the Club but it hasn't proven easy with a small budget whilst the prices of horses at the sales have continued to rise. We will keep looking though and can hopefully find the right candidate soon.

Arpina at Chelmsford on Tuesday will be our sole representative this week and she should have a great chance after a promising comeback run at the same course last time. She likes to keep busy and usually runs a reliable race so shouldn't be far away at the finish.

The following week (starting 21/11) sees UK flat racing have six days off to give everyone a chance to catch their breath at the end of the season and the blog will be doing the same so check back in a couple weeks!
