As you will see in our extended gallops video below, the team are all back into work now as all the winter holiday horses are being ridden again. They've had a couple of weeks walking and are now doing the same length of time trotting before we gradually get them cantering again with the aim of being fit in time for the start of the turf season at the end of March.
The horses are all very happy to be back in work and enjoy the routine of exercise. The older horses have been refreshed by the break and the younger ones have grown and strengthened up nicely.
Although it'll be a while before these group of horses hit the racecourse again, we have a handful of the team to run on the all-weather and I hope they can continue the consistent runs we've had recently.
Stintino Sunset went up to Newcastle last week but the slow pace counted against her. She did well to rally for third place but the horses who raced close to the pace were favoured.
We have some good chances this week ahead starting at Southwell on Tuesday.
Rusheen Boy has been a different horse since switched the handicaps and he'll be trying to win his third race in a row. He has gone up 11lbs in the ratings since his first win and is up against better horses now. The draw in stall 11 isn't ideal either so he'll have to take a step up in order to win again.
Smokey Malone will be accompanying him and he goes there on the back of a win last time too. Again it looks a competitive race but he won with a bit up his sleeve last time so hopefully things can drop his way again and he can be in the mix at the finish.
The other runner for the week will be Eloped at Wolverhampton on Friday evening. She has looked a good stayer on her first two runs for us and hasn't run a bad race either. She is capable of winning when things go her way.
