It was great to be back in the swing of things after a two week cruise and I've been lucky to come back to some lovely spring weather which has dried the ground up and made everything look very green.
The drying up does mean that opportunities for the soft ground horses will be becoming fewer but they have enjoyed a wetter spring than usual so it was great they could get a few runs in at a time of year which is usually too dry for them run.
Two of our mud lovers ran at Windsor last Monday and they both ran respectably to finish third. Scotch Mist now qualifies for handicap races and it'll be interesting to see what rating she gets on Tuesday after a trio of promising runs. She should improve when stepping up in trip.
Mrs Meader ran her usual honest race and is showing signs that her turn to win isn't far away.

Completing the trio of third places was Alibaba who filled that spot at Beverley the following day. He is improving with each run after his long lay-off and it's great to see his terrier-like attitude which saw him battle on despite getting bumped several times.

For the week ahead, Zany Idea was entered at Brighton on Tuesday but it looked likely to be a big field of runners and there are plenty of other races for her so we decided to give it a miss.

That means the only runners this week will come on Wednesday at Yarmouth.
Smokey Malone has found a consistent run of form now so I see no reason why he can't keep it up with another decent effort here. He likes a good pace to chase so hopefully he gets that and then he just needs a bit of luck to go his way.
The other entry by the coast is Yarmouth regular Spanish Mane. She ran a blinder last time to finish second behind an improver so hopefully there isn't one of them in here and she can go close to winning again.
