As I’m sure you have seen on the news, the weather across Europe has been a bit crazy recently with scorching temperatures in the south and wildfires as a result.
Thankfully we have not had any of the super hot weather and it has been a fairly cool summer for us but that makes life in the yard easier as working in 30c heat is not easy.
Despite the cooler temperatures, we haven’t had a whole lot of rain until this weekend when some wet weather on Saturday turned the ground soft everywhere. It was much needed though and it means the soft ground horses can have their conditions.

That’s no problem for our first runner of the week as Hurricane Kiko is on the all-weather at Chelmsford. He has been a bit disappointing this year having won last season so I hope a return to the course and distance he won over can help him spring back to form as he seems in good order at home.

Wednesday might see us head to Bath if Smokey Malone can get in his race despite lots of entries in it.
He is very consistent so another good run is expected with a win coming his way if things fall right.
Lady Clemmie will go with him if he runs and there’s no reason why she can’t nick some prize money. She didn’t handle Brighton last time so that run can be forgiven.

Our Thursday entries both need some soft ground so the rain is very welcome.
Alibaba has been working his way back to form after a long time off the track but the ground was too firm for him last time so he didn’t show his best. If he can run to a similar level as the time before then he should be in the mix at Doncaster.
As should Mrs Meader at Newbury the same day. She loves the track and is in good form at home so should go close to winning if the ground is soft enough for her.

Rusheen Boy will round off the week at Newmarket on Friday evening. He has been a shade disappointing on his first two runs but this race will mean he is qualified for handicaps which could be where he shines.
