We have a busy week of runners coming so we'll dive straight into it but not before reminding you of our Owners' Weekend which takes place on Friday and Saturday this week.
We will be hosting a barbecue at the yard from 5.30 - 8.30pm on Friday evening before inviting you all to the yard the following morning to join us on the gallops between 7 - 11.30am. There is racing at Newmarket's July Course that day too so you could make a full day of it with a trip to the races afterwards. We look forward to seeing you all.
Before then we have lots of runners, kicking off with four at Lingfield on Monday.
The course is due a drop of rain which should make the ground good all round which will be ideal for all our runners.
Lady Clemmie will be the first runner and I hope she can show some form having not handled Brighton's unique undulations last time. The blinkers seem to have had a positive effect on her so hopefully she can run into a place.
Smokey Malone will also be wearing blinkers as he usually does and there's no reason why he can't run well at a track he won at last year. He needs a good pace to chase so fingers crossed he gets that.
Third up will be Alibaba and it's good to have him running after missing a few races recently due to unsuitable ground. The going was too firm for him last time when he was virtually pulled up so the softer surface this time will be more to his liking.
Lastly we have the ever-reliable Spanish Mane. She bounced back to form with a win at this track the time before last then ran very respectably when third at Brighton. I see no reason why she can't run well again with Josephine Gordon back on board.
Tuesday will be another busy one for us with three runners around the country.
Grand Duchess Olga will kick things off up at Beverley and it'll be her first run for us having bought her earlier this month. It might turn out that she'll improve for the run fitness-wise but this was an ideal race for her so I thought it would be worth chancing. She stays very well and seems to handle any ground so conditions will be ideal and she has been very straightforward since joining us.
Later in the day we have a pair of runners at Yarmouth.
Corporate Raider has improved no end since being fitted with blinkers and he backed up his course win with a very good second last time. He'll make another bold bid of it from the front and can hopefully give the N.E.T. Racing Club something to cheer.
Stintino Sunset is also down to run there but she will need the forecast showers to arrive the night before as she is best on soft ground. If she gets some juice in the ground then she will have a good chance of another place.
Scotch Mist is another who likes the ground very soft and it should be that at Leicester on Wednesday. She ran well despite the 1m2f trip being too sharp for her last time so the step up in trip is just what she needs.
Our final runners or the week needs the ground soft too so hopefully it will be just that for Macho Sun at Nottingham on Thursday. The key to him seems to be heavy ground and we are stepping him up in trip having been caught flat-footed over a mile last time.
After this busy week we will certainly be ready for a burger and a drink on Friday evening!
