I mentioned at the end of last week's blog that former stable star The Ducking Stool had sadly passed away whilst at stud but I also had happier news that her one and only foal would be joining us. On Tuesday I made the long trek up to near Redcar to go and pick up the filly foal and she is now happily settled in at the yard. She has had quite a traumatic life in the three months she has been on planet Earth but she seems to be very happy now and has already put on some weight. Although not as flashy looking as her chestnut mum, she definitely has her eyes and she is already becoming just as popular as the legend that was 'Ducky'. It will be at least two years before this foal is able to race so we had better talk about this week's runners. We love going to Yarmouth and we'll be there again on Tuesday with three runners. Terri Rules put Shelley out of action for a while when unseating her leaving the stalls at the track last time but it was not the filly's fault and hopefully it was just a one-off. She seems to be fresh again after that day out and we have booked Jamie Spencer to ride her who should suit her hold-up style of racing. Majestic Moon is a good yardstick at the course and only narrowly lost out when last running at the track. The horse that beat him that day has won twice since so if he can bounce back after a couple of average runs at Ascot, he should be involved again. Completing the trio will be Amelia George. She is still working her way back to full fitness after a long time off the track but her last run was pleasing and I think the straight track at Yarmouth will suit her so hopefully she can get in the prize money. Then on Friday we run a couple of fillies who have really come into form of late. Casey Banter got her head in front for the first time at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago under a great ride from Jospehine Gordon. Hopefully the pair can be reunited at Chelmsford and should run another good race as the filly ran well at the track the run before last. Going with her will be Lulu Star who was nabbed on the line at the track last time. She seemed to stay the 1m2f really well that day so we'll stick to the distance. It is a grade higher but she gets plenty of weight off her rivals so fingers crossed she can be involved again. The Julia Feilden Golf Day and Owners' Barbecue is happening on Thursday 30th August and there is still space to join us on the fairways if you can. Golfers of all abilities are welcome so please email [email protected] for more information. The barbecue will be taking place afterwards at 5pm at the yard and everyone is welcome to come along. Hopefully the weather is kind to us! FOUR TO FOLLOW LEADERBOARDRita Aspland 118
