Strange times

30/12/2018

It's that weird time between Christmas and New Year where not much seems to get done in the outside world. I'm sure some of you have had to work just like us and things are pretty much as normal in the yard with the horses getting their regular exercise. Obviously the staff get the two big occasions off so we worked this Sunday as if it was a normal day in order for them to have Monday to prepare to party and Tuesday for them to recover!

We had a few horses to gallop this morning and Gas Monkey continues to impress. He's pretty much ready to run now and will be back in action in the middle of January for the N.E.T. Racing Club who, as you will have seen in our latest newsletter, now have four-time winner Terri Rules in their ranks which is great news and should give members some exciting days in 2019 for just a £200 per year membership. More details can be found on our OWNERSHIP page.

I can't celebrate New Year's Eve like I used to and it's just as well as the first day of the new year usually means a trip to Southwell for their annual fixture. We have two runners there on Tuesday with Limerick Lord and Candesta taking each other on in the one mile handicap. Candesta sprang back to life with a surprise win last time and you would think he should run well again if repeating the effort although he doesn't win very often nowadays.
Limerick is getting very well handicapped now and the low draw didn't suit him last time so hopefully the wider start this time will see him in a better light. He is ready to win when things fall right for him.
Unfortunately his regular rider Shelley has been having some issues with her back recently so Charlie Bennett will be riding.

Completing the week and hopefully seeing the world return to some sort of normality will be Wilson at Lingfield on Saturday. He won quite cosily over the course and distance last time and still has some leeway on his handicap mark judged on his past performances so hopefully he can continue his good run.

I hope you all get to see in the `New Year in whatever fashion you enjoy and I look forward to making 2019 a memorable year with all your help and support - see you next year!
